This year a group of Development Studies students with support from POLIS are launching the Political Economy of China Graduate Discussion Group. The group’s aim is to bring together the scholars, young researchers and graduate students that study China’s transformation across the University of Cambridge and provide an opportunity for them to interact and exchange ideas. Three sessions will take place during Michaelmas term Tuesdays 2-4pm, on October 14th, November 4th and December 2nd (Room 138). Each session will be led by a speaker who will give a short presentation on the topic, followed by questions and group discussion. Participants will be expected to have looked through relevant readings, circulated in advance, to encourage more in-depth discussion and debate.
Our first confirmed speaker will be Professor Peter Nolan, who will give a presentation on China’s industrial policy. If you would like to participate in this group or if you would like to know more about it, please contact Vasiliki Mavroeidi at firstname.lastname@example.org.
